Haiti - Diplomacy : D-4, Jovenel Moïse will be the investiture of the new Dominican President Luis Abinader

The next Dominican Chancellor Roberto Álvarez has confirmed that the Haitian President, Jovenel Moïse and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Claude Joseph will be present on Sunday August 16 at the inauguration of the new Dominican President Luis Abinader.

The inauguration will include, among others : a large American delegation led by United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo; a delegation from Turkey led by Turkish Chancellor Mevlüt Çavusoglu; another large delegation will be present headed by the Chancellor of the Kingdom of Spain, María Aranzazu González Laya...

This year, the transfer of the presidential scarf will take place during a ceremony at the office of the President of the Senate which will be broadcasted live on television, where the outgoing President Danilo Medina will hand over to the President of the Senate, in his capacity as President of the National Assembly, the presidential scarf, symbol of executive power, in the presence of President-elect Luis Abinader.

Danilo Medina after this short ceremony will not attend the swearing-in of the new President of the Republic, putting an end to a 42-year-old tradition !

For his part, President-elect Luis Abinader and his Vice-President-elect Raquel Peña, as well as other members who make up the head table, will enter the Hall of the National Assembly for the taking of the constitutional oath and later the presidential scarf will be presented to the new President Luis Abinader.

In the Assembly Hall, senators, deputies, representatives of the judiciary, decentralized State bodies, heads of state and foreign missions and the accredited diplomatic corps, as well as special guests, representatives of the Catholic Church and of the country's public and private institutions will be present at this ceremony.
