Haiti - Politic : Electric announcements from Prime Minister Jouthe

On Monday the Prime Minister, Joseph Jouthe paid a visit to the central headquarters of Electricité d'Haiti (EDH).

In addition, for the determination of the Moïse / Jouthe administration to revitalize EDH, the Head of Government took the opportunity to announce several projects in progress, including negotiations well advanced with a Turkish company and the arrival of a floating power plant of 79 Mw for Port-au-Prince and 36 Mw for the city of Cap-Haitien, pending the construction of new plants and to temporarily overcome the black-out problems,

At the same time, the Head of Government announced that the parts necessary for the repair of several power plants, including those in Cap-Haitien, will arrive by next week.

He also confirmed the construction of an 80 MW power station at Carrefour and another of 180 MW at Varreux; while Artibonite and the North will be proud of an increase of 25 Mw in Gonaïves and Cap-Haitien.

In order to lower the average cost of production, as part of the prepaid meter phase, two solar power plants will be installed in Port-au-Prince (50 Mw) and Gonaïves (20 Mw). Jouthe clarified that in accordance with the public policies advocated by President Jovenel Moïse, these projects also include the renovation of energy transport infrastructure, namely poles, pylons, substations and high voltage lines that supply the networks of the country.

Moreover, during his visit he took the opportunity to speak with Rosemonde Adrien, President of the Federation of Workers' Unions of EDH, who was delighted with this positive process of appeasement.
