Haiti - FLASH : Reopening of the International Airport, official date

In a note to Irving Mehu Director General of the National Airport Authority (AAN) dated June 24, Nader Joiseus, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, confirms the official date for the reopening of Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

"According to the wish of the President of the Republic, expressed during his visit on June 21, following the letter of authorization from the Prime Minister and taking into account the favorable report of the Multisectoral Commission responsible for assessing the various issues related to the current situation, I have the advantage of informing you that the Airport will be officially opened on June 30, 2020 " writes Minister Joseus

However, the reopening of the airport does not mean the resumption of all flights indeed, it is the airlines which will decide the return of scheduled flights and each country will decide if Haiti is sufficiently safe in terms of health during the Covid-19 pandemic to allow their nationals to travel to this destination and if Haitians can in turn go to such and such a country...

Note that the Multisectoral Commission refrained from commenting on this decision which several observers consider hasty while the situation of the Covid-19 is largely underestimated in the country...
