Haiti - Agriculture : Minister Sévère adopts a triple approach

In order to guarantee the availability of agricultural products on the local market in the next three months, Patrix Sévère, the Minister of Agriculture has adopted a triple approach : increase the cultivated area, put water and other agricultural inputs available to producers and provide plowing support to farmers.

To this end, several pumping systems are being reinforced, others completely rehabilitated. In several departments, several thousand hectares of land neglected for decades will be developed. Currently, clearing and plowing of several plots is underway.

Minister Sévère speaks of "50,000 hectares in the Northeast and 4,100 hectares in the North West."

For irrigation, in some cases, it prioritizes hybrid systems so that they can be functional 24/24 as has been the case for several months with the Paulin-Lacorne, Aubert and Andou irrigation systems. in the town of Port-de-Paix which have a solar energy system.

In the next 45 days, the Minister Sévère, promises that these infrastructures will be equipped with a generator in support of the solar system.
