Haiti - Reconstruction : Laying of the first stone of the construction sites of the lycées Marie Jeanne and the Cent Cinquantenaire

Two months after the site assessment visit that must host the reconstruction of the Marie Jeanne lycées and the Cent Cinquantenaire https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30131-haiti-reconstruction-monitoring-visit-to-construction-sites-funded-by-japan.html Fils Aimé Ignace Saint Fleur, the Director of the Office for Monetization of Development Aid Programs (BMPAD), proceeded this week, in the presence of the Departmental Director of Western Education Nationale Fritz Dorminvil, representing the Minister of National Education to the laying of the foundation stone for these two projects

In his intervention Saint Fleur FLEUR, underlined that "[...] rebuilding these two high schools is allowing a whole community of young students to pursue their dreams in better conditions and allowing our youth to cultivate the hope of a better tomorrow" he did not fail to thank the Japanese Government for its support for development projects in Haiti.

The cost of rebuilding these two high schools in strict compliance with seismic and para-cyclical standards amounts to a total of 343 million gourdes, including 129 million to rebuild the Marie Jeanne high school over a period of 12 months and 214 million gourdes for the high school of the Cinquantenaire which will be rebuilt in 18 months. This work will be financed up to 200 million with funds from the KR (Kennedy Round) and Japanese cooperation.

According to technicians from the Department of School Engineering of the Ministry, these future establishments, which operated under sheet metal roofs, will each include three levels, including a ground floor and two floors. The Lycée du Cent Cinquantenaire will include, among other things, 12 classrooms, 8 laboratories and 20 toilet blocks, while the Lycée Marie Jeanne will include 14 classrooms and 6 laboratories.

Was present at this ceremony among others : Ms. Sophonie Louis, President of the Association of former students of Lycée Marie Jeanne, Ms. Veline Aly, who represented the Association of alumni of Lycée du Cinquantenaire, Ms. Claudette Fils-Aimé Zéphyrin, Director of high school for young girls, BMPAD executives, representatives of the Ministry of Education and some former students of the two high schools.
