The national hotel network which has already suffered from the socio-political crisis in 2019 which caused the permanent closure, among others, of the 5-star Best Western hotel https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29066-haiti-flash-the-5-stars-best-western-hotel-victim-of-the-crisis-announces-its-final-closure.html in Port-au-Prince and several other hotel structures in provinces, is now undergoing the strong consequences of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, which caused the cessation of all air and cruise activities in the world, bringing the final blow to the Haitian hotel sector, forcing the largest hotels in Haiti to temporarily close their doors.

The Royal Decameron Indigo Beach Resort, an internationally renowned tourist complex located on the coast of the Arcadins, said in a press release "We recognize and understand the difficult situation created by the global spread of the Covid19 virus which requires us to act quickly and responsibly towards our customers, our employees and the community at large. This is why we decided to temporarily cease receiving customers in our hotels, for a period of approximately two months."
