Haiti - Politic : Denial of the Ambassador of Haiti in the Dominican Republic

Yves Rody Jean, Ambassador of Haiti to the Dominican Republic, denied on Sunday the information circulating in a false audio message on social networks inviting Haitians to come to the Embassy to receive food and financial aid...

"I tell everyone not to listen to this false message" broadcast by malicious people, recalling that the embassy is closed and that no demonstration is allowed until the Dominican authorities have announced a return to the normal of activities.

Ambassador Jean insisted on asking all Haitian citizens to respect the measures adopted by the Dominican government to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

For all information, the emergency numbers in Santo Domingo are: 809-686-7115 extension 221 or mobile phones 829222- 1980/1984 and 1991; in Santiago 809-671-4526; at Higuey 829-572-9182 and at Barahona: 829-985-4217.

Despite the message from the Ambassador of Haiti, several dozen Haitians gathered Monday morning in front of the Embassy to ask for financial assistance or the possibility of returning to their country.

They say they are going through difficult times and have lost their jobs as a result of President Danilo Medina's actions to combat the coronavirus. They explained that they went to the embassy after being informed on social media that they would receive food and financial assistance from their embassy.
