Haiti - Politic : Dialogue between the PNH and the leaders of the unrecognized union

Thursday, the members of the Special Facilitation and Dialogue Commission of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30114-haiti-security-the-dg-of-the-pnh-takes-stock-of-the-situation-and-calls-for-calm.html and the union leaders (not recognized by the high command of the National Police) accompanied by their lawyers, met as planned to the first time.

The meeting was held in the presence of several observers, representing the Port-au-Prince bar and civil society organizations : Episcopal Justice and Peace Commission (CE / JILAP), Platform of Haitian Human Rights Organizations (POHDH), the Haitian Institute of Human Rights (IHDH) and the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH).

The discussions took place in a cordial and serene atmosphere where all the participants showed discipline and mutual respect, focused mainly on two points considered as a prerequisite for negotiations : the recognition of the union and the reinstatement of the 5 police officers dismissed https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30061-haiti-flash-5-police-officers-dismissed-for-indiscipline-attack-on-the-honor-of-the-pnh-and-acts-of-vandalism.html

The Office for the Protection of the Citizen playing the role of mediator in this conflict, welcomes the efforts of the two parties and renews its commitment to support the actors with a view to finding a solution to this dispute in the interest of the Nation.

Other sessions are planned shortly between all stakeholders to settle this dispute.
