Haiti - Spain : Haiti seeks to promote inter-university cooperation

Alberto Castillo, the President of the Regional Assembly, received the Ambassador of Haiti to the Kingdom of Spain, Claude Joseph who reiterated the interest of Haiti to reach a cooperation agreement with the three universities of the Region and Province of Murcia (South-East of Spain): the University of Murcia (UMU), the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) with the objective that young Haitians can enrich their training and help rebuild infrastructure in Haiti.

The Ambassador of Haiti Joseph had several meetings on February 24 and 25 last with the President of the autonomous community, Fernando López Miras and university presidents to conclude agreements in this regard.

Recall that Haiti had signed a preliminary cooperation agreement with the Spanish Conference of Rectors, but the promises derived from this agreement did not materialize, so that Ambassador Joseph started a new series of meetings with different universities to relaunch joint work.

The objective is that the young people of Haiti can train in the Region, especially in applied sciences and return to their country to rebuild the university, both physically and in terms of human capital. In addition, he was open to Spanish researchers going to Haiti to conduct studies, because cooperation must be two-way.
