Haiti - Politic : Abolition of allowances for internal medical students, the State postpones its decision

In a letter addressed to Claude Pean, Dean of the Royal University of Haiti (the second private university in Haiti training doctors), Marie Gréta Roy Clément, the Minister of Public Health informs that the decision of the Ministry to abolish the monthly allowance to internal medical students trained in private universities and continuing their internship in hospitals is postponed.

Letter from Minister Clément :

"Mr. the Dean,

The Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) presents its compliments to you and has the advantage of informing you that it has been decided to postpone the decision to no longer grant allowances for interns of the 2020 cohort trained in your respective institutions. In the meantime, discussions will continue with a view to its application from January 2021.

The Ministry of Public Health takes the opportunity to emphasize that the internship is a year of training and, as such, is the full responsibility of the universities.

It is understood that in order to improve the quality of the healthcare offer, of which human resources are an essential pillar, the Ministry remains committed to providing you, as far as possible, with its support if necessary.

The Ministry, all thanking you for your usual collaboration, asks you to believe, Mr the Dean, the assurance of its perfect consideration.

Dr. Marie Gréta Roy Clément

Minister"
