Haiti - Education : Presentation of the Haitian skills nenchmark for Creole and French

The Haitian skills benchmark for French and Creole, developed with the support of the French Embassy, was officially presented this week by the Ministry of National Education.

This document defines the skill levels of users at each level of learning (from beginner to advanced), in both languages and for the different areas of oral and written communication.

Positioning tests in French and Creole, also designed within the framework of this benchmark, thus allow the user to define his level. Training actions can then be scheduled to improve the level of linguistic competence.

This skills document constitutes a dynamic and evolving tool, intended to offer a common basis notably for the design of training programs, exams, teaching manuals, etc. It is mainly intended for decision-makers, designers of curricula, assessment tests and textbooks, teachers and trainers and all those involved in the teaching of both languages. He participates in the promotion of bilingualism and learning in Creole and French.

Meniol Jeune, the Director General of the Ministry of National Education announces that in the very short term that as part of the second phase of operationalization of this document, linguistic positioning tests in French and Creole will be available in line.

Cénatus Pierre, the General Coordinator of the Teaching and Quality Department, sees in this document the possibility of better mastery of both languages, a good step towards balanced bilingualism which will have to pave the way towards multilingualism which is becoming increasingly necessary as a necessity in the context of globalization.
