Haiti - Insecurity : Hijacking of a truck with social assistance rice
In a note, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) informs the general public and beneficiaries under the "Panye Solidarite" Program in particular that "a truck containing 300 bags of 10kg rice entrusted on February 12, 2020 to a community leader as a prelude to a distribution which should take place in Lilavois 29, in the plain for the benefit of the needy population [...] was diverted for its marketing at the market La Bastille de Mirebalais [...]"
Informed of the situation, the regional office of FAES in the Center department, alerted the police and judicial authorities who went to the scene.
Four people, whose father, mother and their two children, who are allegedly involved in the embezzlement of more than 200 bags of rice from FAES, were arrested Thursday, February 13, by Mirebalais police, confirmed Justice of the Peace Dritznel Télémaque in charge of legal report.
The FAES encourages the population in general and recipients of social assistance in particular to report any similar case of which they are aware so as not to be complicit in such acts.
