Haiti - Carnival 2020 : Surprise visit of President Moïse to the stand of the Town Hall of Port-au-Prince

As part of the 4th Sunday of pre-carnival activities, President Jovenel Moïse accompanied by his wife Martine and members of the Carnival Organizing Committee, including President Guy André François Jr. https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-29983-icihaiti-national-carnival-2020-official-presentation-of-members-of-the-organizing-committee.html, made a surprise visit on February 9 to the Champ de Mars on the stand of the Town Hall of Port- au Prince already erected for several days.

In a Champs de March transformed into a building site, carpenters and other workers are active in the construction of stands, 12 days before the start of the Carnival (23, 24, 25 February 2020) which will take place this year around the theme "Pote Kole Pou Ayiti Dekole".

The Head of State met with Ralph Youri Chevry, the Mayor of Capital, congratulating him for the arrangements made for the holding of Carnival 2020 before reviewing the organization of the event and the security measures provided.

In addition to deny the rumors which suggests that there would be deep differences between the Presidency and the Town Hall. Moïse said "The President and the Mayor are two elected officials who have the responsibility to serve the population" stressing the importance of unity among all Haitians for the success of Carnival 2020 he renewed the commitment of his administration to through the Carnival 2020 Organizing Committee to allow the festivities to run smoothly.

So far have not yet known how much the National Carnival 2020 will cost the Treasury.
