Santiago Lajes Choy, Rector of the University of Camagüey (UC) in Cuba, expressed his intention to establish cooperation in fields such as computer science and agricultural sciences, at a recent meeting attended by : Narcisse Fievre, Member of the cabinet of Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education of Haiti who was accompanied by five university presidents, as well as academics from Spain, France, Austria and Ireland members of the international EMINENT project.

Yailé Caballero Mota, Director of International Relations of the UC, underlined that the meeting was positive and that it represents an opportunity to widen and strengthen the relations with Haiti declaring "From now on, we will maintain communication with them to direct the first actions, mainly in the field of augmented virtual reality, in which computer science students from Camaguey and others related to food security will participate in coordination with the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of our University."

Caballero Mota explained that foreign academics are showing a keen interest in the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, led by the UC, as a result of the collaboration between the University of Camagüey and "Hebei International Studies" in China.
