Preparations are progressing at the Departmental Electoral Bureau of South East (BED) for the holding of the second round of legislative elections for the Constituency of la Vallée de Jacmel, this May 29, 2011. Candidates Jean Etzer Valentti of the Platform INITE and Wifine Labée of party "Ansanm new fo" will compete to the second round of these elections.

The BED proceeded, on May 10, to the draws of members of polling stations that will have to participate in the second round of legislative elections for the region. The process was attended by Louiner Jean Mary, director of electoral operations to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), Ms. Eleanor Mentor, the president of the BED Southeast and the two candidates involved.

The President of BED, in his statements to the local press, said that the Electoral Office has already received a lot of material to organize the second round. For the constituency of La Vallée the staff will be deployed in 12 voting centers [61 polling stations], including 24 supervisors and 37 electoral guards will be present, said Ms. Mentor which has launched a warning to individuals who wish to sow chaos during the election of May 29.

For his part, Louiner Jean Mary said that his presence is part of an evaluation through the 3 constituencies where the second round of parliamentary elections will take place: the Vallée de Jacmel, and Verrette and Fonds-Verrette in order to correct some irregularities. In addition, the Director of electoral operations has announced a series of changes that will be made in the system, concerning the supervisors and electoral agents who were involved in fraud in recent elections.

Recall that, the electoral campaign for the second round of elections in these three constituencies, has began Monday, May 9, 2011 and will end on May 27. The voting day will take place May 29, 2011, in accordance with the schedule of the CEP. Preliminary results are expected on June 2 and the final results on June 13, 2011.
