Haiti - FLASH : Molotov cocktail attack against a minibus filled with passengers

Thursday on the Champ de Mars a minibus filled with passengers, ensuring the path Port-au-Prince / Pétion-ville was the target of a Molotov cocktail attack, several people were burned to varying degrees and rushed to hospital. One of the very seriously burned passengers whose vital prognosis is engaged, was taken care of by foreign doctors who were rushed to the US medical ship https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29184-haiti-health-the-us-hospital-ship-usns-comfort-has-arrived.html

In a note the Government denounces with the utmost rigor this "attack" perpetrated against a minibus carrying passengers "by individuals claiming to be of the political opposition" and specifies "[...] During this act of a terrorist nature, passengers came out with severe and deep burns that put their life at risk. The attacked vehicle carrying elderly people, women and children was totally destroyed. Clear instructions have been passed to the highest judicial and police authorities to find and punish the perpetrators of this despicable act."

For his part Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of the Interior, said that Haiti was sliding towards "terrorism" in view of the violence recorded in recent days...

Last minute : Three people suspected of having thrown the Molotov cocktail were arrested by a patrol of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) who were not far from the scene of the tragedy. Two of the alleged perpetrators of this act were identified as Johnny Hermilus and Charles Ricardo.

Jean Roudy Aly, the Minister of Justice, congrulates the PNH who was able to intervene quickly and efficiently and gives the guarantee that this barbaric act, unacceptable in a democracy will not remain unpunished.
