The Haitian State has engaged the professional services of Me Osner Fevry, Cabinet Fevry, Me Ephésien Joissaint of Cabinet Joissaint law Firm, Me Fritzo Canton of Cabinet Canton and Me Newton Louis St-Juste of Cabinet Vir Bonus Associate Law Firm, in order to defend its interests in the case of energy supply contracts.

This decision follows the resolutions adopted in the Council of Ministers on October 23, 2019 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29083-haiti-flash-the-state-suspends-all-payments-to-private-electricity-companies.html concerning "leonine" contracts (note) according to the government concluded between private companies and the Haitian State since 2005 and concerning debts accumulated within certain autonomous public enterprises and obvious irregularities to the detriment of the interests of the Nation.

These law firms are empowered to take all the measures required by the Constitution and Haitian laws, amicably or judicially before all the Instances and at all levels, in order to arrive at the recovery of all claims of the State and Autonomous Institutions and/or to return any values ​​unduly perceived and due.

This decision aims at strengthening the authority of the State and making corrections to contractual acts that have seriously damaged the interests of the Nation.

NOTE : In law, a leonine contract is an act that gives a co-contractor rights disproportionate to his obligations...
