Haiti - FLASH : Next arrival of fuels in less quantity than political announcements

Friday, September 13, the oil companies received nearly 20 million dollars from the Haitian state, about 1 month of subsidy. Note that the companies have not expected this partial payment of the billions of debt that the Haitian government owes them, to place their orders.

According to our information, 110,000 barrels of gasoline are expected to arrive in Port-au-Prince on 16 or 17 September, a fuel that will be shared between DINESA and another company. A second cargo of 155,000 barrels of diesel should arrive on September 19 or 20 for these two companies.

The oil company Sol, is expected to receive 2 cargoes of gasoline and diesel between 19 and 21 September but in smaller volume.

In total, a volume lower than the amount of 500,000 barrels and more announced in the political speeches of the Government, due to a lack of cash at the oil companies...

In addition, the National Association of Petroleum Products Distributors (ANADIPP), a non-profit organization grouping distributors of petroleum products in charge of retail sales to the consumer, wants to correct the false information concerning the closure of several service stations wrongly accused of participating in the black market.

Explaining that these closures can have several causes among others : orders placed with the oil companies that were delivered partially and in insufficient quantity; employees attacked and threatened by an extremely aggressive clientele; the risks inherent in a huge influx of people who are uncontrollable in the presence of a highly flammable product that poses a definite danger to the safety of lives and property.

ANADIPP urges the relevant authorities to ensure a significant and permanent presence of law enforcement officials, to help manage the supply and distribution of petroleum products safely for the population.
