Haiti - Politic : Threat blocking of the process of constitutional revision

The Senator Mélius Hyppolite (Northwest), Second Secretary of the Senate and one of the representatives of the minority, said Tuesday that the Senators and Deputies from the Alternative and other political sensitivities, will boycott the session devoted to the constitutional reform, as long as the preliminary results of April 4 will not be published in the official newspaper "Le Moniteur", and not those of the final results disputed, which have placed at the top 17 deputies and 2 Senators [mostly in favor of the platform INITE].

The Senator northwest, aware of the urgency of the amendment process, says that if their demand is met, the elected minority (of both Houses) will take part in discussions on the revision of the Constitution.

The presence of the minority group is also important that the absence of the 23 members of the minority group and of 11 senators who support them, this could make it impossible to vote on these amendments that require the votes of two thirds of each chamber for this session, either 66 deputies and 20 senators.

Given the risks of failure of the whole constitutional review process, the elected of the platform INITE, which hold a relative majority in both houses, increase their pressure on the minority group, by multiplying the denunciations in the media of behavior of elected minority, near the population and the diaspora.
