On Monday, the Directorate General of the National Fund for Education (FNE) conducted a working session focused mainly on the preparation of the new school year 2019-2020. This session was also the occasion, for Joseph Frantz Nicolas the Director General of the FNE, to introduce the issue of the reorganization of the Budget of the FNE for the fiscal year 2018-2019.

Chaired by Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet the Minister of National Education in the presence in particular of Jean Jacques Bouco Representative of the Minister of Economy and Finance and Vice-President of the Council, of the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, Mr. Jean Claudy Pierre, Board Member, Yvanessa St-Hubert, Representative of the Minister of Haitians Living Abroad, and Paul Saint-Preux, a representative of the Teachers Unions sector.

The General Director of the National Fund for Education, Joseph Frantz Nicolas explained that for the next school year, the FNE will intervene in :

• The rehabilitation of schools with 250 million Gourdes;

• Textbook subsidy of 417 million gourdes;

• The management of a school canteen program, to be implemented by the National Program of School Canteens (PNCS), with a budget of 60 million Gourdes;

• A support of 200 million gourdes at the presbyteral, communal and Protestant schools;

• Support for the acquisition of school furniture for 45 million Gourdes)

• Support for the acquisition of teaching materials for early childhood, for a total of 20 million Gourdes.

Recall that the funds of the FNE come from levies of 5 US cents on each phone minutes and $1.50 on each money transfer from the diaspora to Haiti,
