Haiti - Jacmel : The resignation of Edwin Zenny in details

In a letter addressed to Paul Antoine Bien-Aimé, Minister of the Interior and Territorial Collectivity, the Mayor of Jacmel, Edwin Zenny announced his decision to resign from the cartel 2007-2011, following his election as Senator of the Republic of Haiti, elected in the first round with 57.60% in the elections of November 28, 2010.

"I am sure, Mr. Minister, that the task that awaits me in Parliament is huge, but I am still convinced that the two deputy mayors Viergela François and Ronald Andris, will continue firmly the activities of the municipality and they will address the needs of the population of Jacmel" reassures Edwin Zenny, adding that "my honesty towards you [the Minister Bien-Aimé], as Mayor of Jacmel, made me obligation to communicate my state of mind to meet the expectations of those who had placed their trust in me" and states that "by renouncing my position today as Mayor of Jacmel, I am even more at the service of the town of Jacmel, of Department of Southeast and the Haitian people in general".

At a press conference Wednesday, April 27, 2011, Edwin Zenny announced that at the time of his resignation, there was in the case (cash box/account) of the Town Hall of Jacmel an amount of approximately 1,500,000 gourds.

He said that the Ministry of Interior and Territorial Collectivity owes him five months of back pay and $ 200,000 Haitian dollars used to pay staff.

Always in this press conference, Edwin Zenny announced a wave of revocation of the departmental directors of the Southeast region in the coming days.

Note that currently all the transactions on the account of the Town Hall are blocked because the ex-Mayor Edwin Zenny was the only one who had the right of signature. He is willing to meet with the Minister to unblock the situation.
