Haiti - Taiwan : President Tsai Ing-Wen's flash visit, no new announcements

On Saturday, on a China Airlines flight, Tsai Ing-Wen, President of Taiwan (Republic of China) at the head of a large delegation arrived in Haiti, one of the 17 countries to maintain diplomatic ties with Taiwan, start of a 9-day tour https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-28157-icihaiti-diplomacy-the-president-of-taiwan-soon-in-haiti.html

During an interview of about 30 minutes, away from cameras and microphones, the two Presidents discussed new avenues of cooperation. At the end of this meeting, which was also attended by Prime Minister Jean Michel Lapin and some members of the government, the two heads of State at a joint press conference, made the state of the current cooperation but did not make any new announcement. In her speech, President Tsai Ing-Wen of Taiwan referred to the possibility of developing in the future other areas of cooperation concluding that her visit could contribute to strengthening exchanges and bilateral cooperation between Haiti and Taiwan before declaring "I Wish with all my heart the political and social stability in Haiti. We will accompany Haiti on its path to development."

Tsai Ing-Wen, went to the National Pantheon Museum where she signed the museum's guest book, deposited a floral offering in memory of our founding fathers at the National Pantheon Museum of Haiti (MUPANAH) before inaugurate the exhibition of Taiwan products in the Museum Gardens.

In his speech, the Head of State declared, "At a time when my country is facing difficulties of all kinds, particularly in the field of development, Taiwan remains a model par excellence of lasting results for an economy like ours in search of growth and massive job creation.

[...] The enemies of growth is the exclusion, precariousness and instability they engender. Economic Growth is a transcendent goal that appeals to us all, Haitians as well as all foreign sectors and partners in development. That is why, during my visit to your country, President TsaiI, I advocated Taiwanese direct investment in the Haitian economy.

[...] The Taiwanese model of success inspires me. Therefore, it challenges all Haitians, whatever our particular ideologies, to transform our country into a haven of peace with a stable environment that can attract foreign direct investment.

[...] All the stakes are needed to promote this new dynamic in our bilateral relations. Indeed, although separated by two oceans, Haiti and Taiwan must strengthen their diplomatic relations, especially in economic matters.

[...] In this sense, our two countries are therefore inaugurating a new dynamic of cooperation, which consists in placing more emphasis on Taiwanese direct investment in Haiti, whose geographical position provides Taiwanese entrepreneurs with a gateway to this strategic crossroads where transit more than 40% of international trade. May your visit be another stone in diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation. The exhibition of Taiwanese products that is held in this same space on July 14 and 15 is a significant track of investment prospects."
