Haiti - NOTICE : 1.5 million Haitian children will be vaccinated

Due to a global resurgence of measles cases, a serious infectious respiratory disease that particularly affects children, eradicated for 10 years in Haiti, but the high risk of reintroduction of this disease due to the frequency of travel between Haiti and other states in the Americas, including at least 1,804 cases confirmed this year in 13 countries in the region, including the United States, Canada and Brazil, the Ministry of Public Health announces preventive vaccination campaign.

From July 15 to 19, the Ministry of Public Health will carry out a major vaccination campaign for children aged 2 months to 5 years, against measles, rubella and poliomyelitis, in the 10 departments

At least 1.5 million children will benefit from this vaccination and will also receive vitamin A.

The Ministry informs that vaccines and vitamin A will be available in health institutions and gathering stations in towns and localities across the country. Mobile teams and health workers will move to reach the most remote areas wishing to reach at least 95% of children.

As a result, the Ministry is asking for the collaboration of the entire population in general and in particular parents, guardians of children, community leaders, local elected officials and nuns among others, so that this campaign succeeds in reaching all the children.
