Haiti - Health : Great breakthrough in the Haitian pediatric field

On Friday, St. Damien's Hospital, Our Little Brothers and Sisters inaugurated a new Department of Pediatric Surgery realized with the support of the Italian Foundation Francesca Rava-NPH in collaboration with the "Società Italiana di Pediatric Surgery" (SICP)

Saturday at the Marriott Hotel at the opening of the International Pediatric Congress, which will take place on Sunday, June 2 and Monday, June 3, around the theme "University Hospital, Pillar of Optimal Child Health", two new Haitian pediatric surgeons, who have just completed their 3 years of specialization, organized by the San Damiano Hospital with the support and coordination of the Italian Foundation "Francesca Rava-PNSA" and the "Instituto Gianna Gaslini" (Genoa, Italy) for the training, were invested in their role in the presence of representatives of the Francesca Rava Foundation, Notre Dame University of Haiti (UNDH) and the Ministry of Public Health.

This is a great step forward in the Haitian medical field and a very important new step that has been taken at St. Damien Hospital, in the pursuit of its mission to save more children an increase the number of children and and to increase the autonomy of medical personnel in Haiti.

In addition, two other new young Haitian surgeons have started their three-year training since April 2019.
