Haiti - FLASH : Imports of petroleum products new endangered in the country

6 oil companies (Kimazou, Bandari Haiti SA, CapInvest, Dinasa, Sol Haiti and DNC) warn in a correspondence, the Minister of Economy and Finance that due to "[...] amounts recently owed by the customs administration to our companies [reimbursement of taxes owed by the State] are of a magnitude [...] such that today, our industry predicts that it will no longer have the financial resources to supply the local market in the weeks to come. It is therefore our duty to inform you of the urgency of this alarming situation."

The 6 companies, while respecting the decision of the government to subsidize the fuels, underline "[...] this subventionwill not be able any more to be financed by our industry" explaining that "the deficits of the oil companies, generated by the taxes to be refunded of the structure do not allow us to negotiate financing with banks that find an insolvency out of our control "and request an emergency meeting with the Minister of the Economy Ronald Décembre "so that corrective measures are taken as soon as possible."

Note that for the month of April, the State should owe more than 20 million dollars that have not been paid to companies, because of the difficult situation in which is the Treasury...
