iciHaiti - Social : Nearly 400,000 Haitians deported or turned back since June 2015

The Directorate General of Migration (DGM), informs that during the month of April 2019, following investigations of location of intelligence services, associated with denunciations of the population, dozens of migration control operations of Haitians suspected of living illegally in the Dominican Republic, were conducted in different provinces of the country.

Thus, 5,609 Haitians were controlled in irregular migratory situation on the Dominican territory and returned to the border posts of Dajabón, Jimaní and Elías Piña to be registered and deported to Haiti and 5,200 others were returned to the border while they were trying to enter the Dominican territory illegally.

At the beginning of May, several migratory control operations have already been carried out in various communities during which 2,352 Haitians have been controlled. After checking their legal status, 1,787 compatriots (75.9%) were declared in an irregular migration situation and taken back to the border posts of Dajabón and Jimaní to be registered and deported to Haiti.

Note that since June 15, 2015, the Dominican Republic has deported to Haiti or turned back to its borders nearly 400,000 Haitians and control operations do not slow down, quite the contrary the teams of the DMG helped by their intelligence service (more than 18,000 agents on the territory) and the denunciation of the population, stalk relentlessly our compatriots throughout the territory.

Note that far from discouraging Haitians, some of our compatriots who play cat and mouse with the Dominican soldiers, have already been deported several times without affecting their determination to return to live with the Dominicans where it is not very difficult to find better paid work than in Haiti and send money to their families back home.
