The 17 containers that had supposedly disappeared from Port Lafito, were found, they had simply been moved to another customs area of the Port without authorization.

On Tuesday, a content inspection process for these containers started with the help of agents of the Anti-Drug Trafficking Brigade (BLTS) in the presence of the Government Commissioner in Port-au-Prince, Paul Éronce Villard, representatives of the American Embassy, a Justice of the Peace and the media. Nothing so far has been discovered illegal during the container inspection which is still ongoing.

Recall that the disappearance of these containers had passionate social networks, following incarceration after hearing by Me Paul Éronce Villard of two employees of the Port Lafito accused of slips falsifying and be involved in the hijacking of 2 or 3 containers, suspected to contain weapons and ammunition... Suspicion enough to fuel the rumor machine.

Tuesday Paul Éronce Villard was quick to nuance his previous statements to the press claiming to have spoken only of "suspicions" and said nothing, and he had never spoken of "missing containers" explaining "[...] We talked of containers that have come out from one point to another. Romel Bell, the Director General of the General Administration of Customs (AGD), defends himself well for having spoken about weapons "[...] I never spoke ammunition nor weapons of war" affirming that the investigation went on to determine that unauthorized persons could have in their possession the AC1 forms (which allowed the removal of containers without control) ensuring that if it is the fault of customs officials, they will be punished and if they are employees from Port Lafito who stole them, they will be sued.

Recall that during the preliminary investigation, the Lafito Port Directorate brought categorically denied allegations of smuggling and illegal imports https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27577-haiti-economydenial-of-the-management-of-port-lafito.html which circulated in some media and on the social networks a little too fast as the authorities drew conclusions...
