Haiti - Security : The Civil Society Initiative denounces the situation of insecurity in the country

The Civil Society Initiative (ISC) joins all the voices raised to denounce the situation of insecurity that tends to spread in Haiti lamenting that "Armed gangs control areas and entire regions, asphyxiate the economy, slaughter our police officers and reign terror in society and mourning in Haitian families."

In its note, the ISC emphasizes that what is more serious is that these Gangs "[...] are tolerated, supported, supplied with weapons, ammunition, financial resources and sometimes even created by political leaders and businessmen. It is time for this drift to cease and irresponsible political leaders and corrupt businessmen to stop using violence to make advance their personal interests to the detriment of peace, public security, general welfare and national prosperity.

[...] the authorities should bear in mind their obligations to provide the public with adequate public services in terms of security, education, health, decent housing, sanitation for a better quality of life

[...] The Civil Society Initiative expresses its sympathies to the families of the victims of recent killings. It finds herself in front of the police who gave their lives for the security of the Nation and congratulates all State officials, who have not hesitated, at the risk of their lives, to investigate, denounce crimes and prosecute the guilty. "

In conclusion, the ISC appeals to political leaders, parliamentarians, judges, police commanders, "to resist any temptation to make a deal with the bandits, but to borrow the path of the duty, of legality, of law, of justice and excellence."
