Haiti - Justice : 16 containers missing, justice temporarily closes Port Lafiteau

Following the discovery of 16 falsified customs slips that allowed the exit of the Port Lafiteau terminal, on April 14, without authorization and without any inspection of at least 3 containers, carrying unidentified goods and the arrest of 2 employees https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27547-haiti-security-containers-left-without-inspection-the-terminal-of-the-port-of-lafiteau.html the Commissioner of the Government of Port-au Prince Paul Éronce Villard and Romel Bell the Director General of the General Administration of Customs (AGD) announced at a press conference that in the context of the ongoing investigation, it was decided to close the Port Lafiteau as a precautionary measure.

Paul Éronce Villard said the two arrested employees provided a lot of information and gave the names of other individuals who would be involved, statements that opened very important tracks on the disappearance of 16 containers that left the Port without inspections, at least two of which, according to rumors circulating, contain weapons and ammunition. He ensures that the auditions will continue and that all the tracks will be exploited.

For his part, Romel Bell, explained that it was within the framework of a control that the AGD had discovered that two employees of Lafiteau having neither right nor quality, were in possession of forms AC1 concerning the displacement and the container tracking, reserved for the exclusive use of the customs, without being able to explain for the moment how these precious documents could be found in the hands of these two employees...

Neither Paul Éronce Villard nor Romel Bell have been able to specify when Port Lafiteau will reopen, aware that this temporary closure blocks many other containers and that it is a shortfall both for the Treasury and for the owners of these goods.
