Recall that February 7, 2019, which was to be only a one-day demonstration, turned into a general paralysis of all socio-economic activities in the country for 10 days. Characterized by spontaneous and sporadic demonstrations, barricades on public roads, looting and/or the burning of commercial enterprises and especially the feeding of a psychosis of fear, by sending messages inciting violence and threatening the population who would venture into the streets...

The record of events in February is heavy : at least 40 people were killed, 17 by bullets and 82 others were wounded among them 20 agents of the PNH. In addition, 12 gas stations, 6 banking institutions, 23 private commercial enterprises, 2 schools, 1 hospital, 1 university and 7 private houses were vandalized and/or burned.

The National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH) and its regional structures carried out an investigation in order to draw up a detailed assessment of the events that occurred from February 7 to 17, 2019 and to make recommendations to the legislative and executive authorities.
