Haiti - Economy : 500 new jobs

On Thursday an agreement between the Indigo Mountain Haïti S.A. represented by the Indian industrial Yatin Shelar and Guy Lamothe Director General of the Société Nationale des Parcs Industriels (SONAPI), was signed.

Mr Shelar has 23 years experience in the garment industry, he has invested in many countries including Indonesia, the United States and India, he is owner, among other, of Indigo Mountain Inc., a garment factory, and k3 tennis a tennis ball factory.

In its first phase Mr Shelar will invest $1.2 million and will employ 500 people, mainly workers. Indigo Mountain Haïti S.A. will produce textile products for the brand Wild Stallion and will export with the advantages of the law Haiti Economic Lift Program (HELP) (1) towards the United States.

In a second phase, which is a project, Yatin Shelar, would like implement a factory in Haïti to make tennis balls. Mr Shelar said he decided to come to Haïti following the information provided by the Centre de facilitation des Investissements (CFI).

(1) HELP law aims to extend until 2020, the HOPE Law I and II passed in 2008. It facilitates the free re-entry on the US market of the clothing made in Haiti.
