Haiti - Shipwreck in the Bahamas : Message of Pope Francis to the families and the Haitian people

At the request of Haiti via his Embassy https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26857-haiti-bahamas-haiti-asks-for-the-return-of-dead-bodies-of-haitians-drowned-in-the-sinking.html , the bodies of the 28 Haitians dead drowned six miles offshore from the Abaco Islands north of the archipelago of the Bahamas during the sinking of their boat, will be flown to Nassau to be handed over by Bahamian authorities to the Embassy of Haiti and the League of Haitian Pastors to be buried Sunday.

The Rev. Jean Paul Charles, Pastor of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Berean in Nasseau and President of the League of Haitian Pastors, said that it was planned to organize a funeral Sunday, February 9 for the 28 victims, in order to to give the dignity of death at a decent funeral, adding that all the victims had been identified.

Moreover, on Wednesday at the Vatican, Pope Francis addressing the pilgrims gathered in the courtroom Paul VI (formerly Nervi Hall) said "Last Saturday, near the Bahamas archipelago, a boat sank, carrying dozens of Haitian migrants in search of hope and a peaceful future. My loving thoughts are with the families who are suffering, as well as with the Haitian people affected by this new tragedy. I invite you to join me in praying for those who tragically lost their lives and for the wounded."
