Haiti - Elections : A new departure for Haiti...

We heard the announcement by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) of the preliminary results of elections in Haiti, who place Michel Martelly at the head of the presidential election.

We welcome the patience and the maturity of the Haitian people who, these last months, clearly expressed its attachment to the electoral process and has just welcomed the results in calm.

The second round of the elections of March 20 was conducted in a satisfactory manner. We wish to commend the work of the Provisional Electoral Council, Minustah and the national and international observers, including the observation mission of the OAS-CARICOM (JEOM) in which the France participated actively.

The electoral process must be completed in accordance with the electoral law, so that the final results can be promulgated on April 16.

This political transition, wanted by Haitian voters must mark a new departure for Haiti. The future authorities can count on France to support them in their task of reconstruction and development.
