Monday in Montrouis (Artibonite), a 60-year-old land dispute between two families over a problem of territorial demarcation between the commune of Montrouis and that of Arcahaie, which has already caused several casualties in the past, experienced a new episode of violence between residents of both communes.

Shots were reported, National Road #1 was blocked during the day and during the clashes 3 cars parked in front of the police station were completely destroyed by fire, including that of a police inspector. A person was reportedly killed in this conflict.

Blaise Elysée, the mayor of Montrouis who confirms the facts, deplores these acts of violence and asks the authorities concerned to put an end to this land conflict and restore permanent order in the commune.
