Haiti - Washington : Consensus on the disbursement of 16.5 million of support to education

After 3 days of participation in a High Level Technical Workshop at the invitation of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC https://www.haitilibre.com/article-26668-haiti-politique-vers-un-deblocage-de-16-5-millions-pour-des-projets-d-education.html Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education, at the head of a delegation and the representatives of the World Bank, UNESCO, UNICEF and the European Union adopted a road map on the next steps to be taken in order to make the desired changes in the Ten-Year Plan for Education and Training (PDEF) and achieve expected disbursements for education projects in Haiti.

Thus, by June 2019, the sectoral analysis of sector, a fundamental step in the PDEF's development, should be completed and finalized, a key step in the revision of the Plan to allow the disbursement of EU budget support, in particular the variable portion of funds to be allocated to education.

Minister Cadet welcomed the consensus and took the opportunity to thank the leaders of the GPE who have found a "modus vivendi" to continue to support Haiti's efforts in education.

Alice Albright, the CEO of the GPE, applauded the quality of the work done by the two teams on the US $16.5 million support for Haiti and the problems resulting from certain flaws in the process of developing of the project PDEF. She welcomed the agreement that will enable the GPE to continue to support Haiti in the field of education.

Other working meetings are planned in Port-au-Prince for the continuation of the process.
