Haiti - FLASH : The Bahamas closes their embassy in Port-au-Prince and suspend flights to Haiti

Due to continuing unrest in Haiti, the Bahamas Foreign Ministry informs that the Bahamas Embassy in Port-au-Prince is closed until further notice. This decision was taken after consultation with the Ambassador of the Bahamas in Haiti and security personnel in Haiti.

The United Nations Mission in Haiti (UNMIJUSTH) issued security guidelines, introducing a curfew from 10 pm to 5 am until further notice. It is the policy of the Bahamas, in situations such as this one, to act jointly with the diplomatic community and the United Nations, if they are present in the jurisdiction.

In addition, the airline Bahamasair has suspended flights to Haiti until further notice. It is advisable to consult Bahamasair to know when flights will resume.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs monitors the situation and will provides updates on new developments as they arise.
