Tuesday, following migratory control operations started on Monday by Migration staff, the Specialized Corps of Border Security (Cesfront), the army and intelligence services, in the communities of Oviedo, La Colonia, Juancho, de Nueva Rosa and in some areas of the municipality of Pedernales, several dozens of Haitians, all young men, were arrested and transported in two buses of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) to the "Enriquillo Fortress" ,

If some Haitians after verification were released, the majority was transported to the Province of Independencia to be registered before their deportation to Haiti.

The head of migration at Pedernales, Major Martín Beltré Sánchez, who directs these control operations, said that these were only normal migration control operations of Haitians.

However, the residents of this border province estimate that deportations of Haitians have more than doubled and that it is rather a retaliation, following Saturday's incident involving Dominican cardiologist Pedro Ureña.

On Tuesday Colonel Durán Infantes, Director General of the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT) was in Pedernales to monitor and investigate the security situation at the border.
