Haiti - Agriculture : 16 Haitian young scholars in poultry production back from India

Jobert C. Angrand, the Minister of Agriculture and its Director General Branly Eugène received on Tuesday the 16 young scholars back home who have just completed 8 weeks of training in India at "Dr BV Rao Institute of Poultry Management and Technology" (IMPT) in Pune (India's second largest city, Maharashtra State in the West), hatchery management, feed input management, broiler rearing, layer rearing, modern sanitation techniques, management of poultry farms and marketing.

For Minister Angrand, the goal is for Haiti to be self-sufficient in the poultry sector within the next three years and to enable young people to improve their knowledge abroad is the best way to achieve this. It should be noted that India is known for its substantial egg production and expertise in managing poultry farms and modern agricultural/poultry cooperatives.

According to the participants, the training was both theoretical and practical, and the Indian trainers focused on the construction of farms and poultry houses, nutrition, fertility management, anatomy and physiology, poultry disease management...

The Minister and the Director General have pledged to deploy these professionals in the various Departmental Agricultural Directorates of the country, particularly in the North-East, North and North-West for a period of training.

Angrand invited these young people to come together to set up poultry production companies, informing them that funds were available to finance such projects assuring them that his ministry is determined to accompany them in such a quest.
