Haiti - DR : A young Haitian shot in the head in Santiago

The Consulate General of Haiti in Santiago deplores the death of the young Haitian citizen Wadner Petit-Choute, student doctor died of a bullet to the head after a shot fired by a police officer, while he was watching Monday around 7:40 pm, from the window of his apartment on the second floor, a violent clash involving taxi motorcycles who were demonstrating to demand a reduction in fuel prices and the Dominican police force in the area of ​​Beijing in Santiago.

Immediately after being informed of this tragic incident, the representatives of the Consulate met the Prosecutor, Andres Mena at the "Juan XXIII" Hospital Center where Petit-Choute passed away. "Last night (Monday), alerted to the tragic death of a Haitian citizen in Santiago in the Dominican Republic, I instructed the Chargé d'Affaires in Santo Domingo to inquire immediately about the circumstances of this sad situation and to keep me informed of its evolution," said Bocchit Edmond, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In these painful circumstances, the Consulate accompanies the relatives of the victim for the legal consequences and facilitate the repatriation of the body in Haiti.

For its part, the Dominican police announced that it had opened an investigation into this incident.
