Haiti - Politic : An U.S. Congressional delegation in Haiti Tuesday

A delegation of Democratic leaders of Congress will travel to Haiti tomorrow for a visit of two days. This delegation, comes assess the electoral process and the progress of the reconstruction of country, including the housing reconstruction.

The delegation, led by Aaron Williams, the Director of the Peace Corps, will meet with the haitian Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive, and senior Government officials. The group also includes Sens Kent Conrad (North Dakota), Kay Hagan (North Carolina) and members of the House of Representatives Peter Welch (Vermont) and Xavier Becerra (California).

"The delegation will visit the camps, clinics, schools, a rehabilitation center for amputees, a garment factory and the Tabulation Center" declared the office of Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont. The Senator Leahy chairs the subcommittee on foreign operations, which has jurisdiction over the budgets of Department of State, of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Peace Corps and the external aid from the U.S. Government.
