The Senate Committee "Justice, Security and National Defense" chaired by Jean Renel Sénatus, presented on October 3 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25725-haiti-news-zapping.html its report to the Upper House Office, after 17 months of work on plans to recast the criminal codes and of criminal procedure that will now be debated in Parliament in special sessions.

Recall that our code of criminal instruction, of Napoleon's inspiration was promulgated in 1835, in the 19th century and has not undergone in 183 years any major change. This recasting will make it possible to correct certain crimes and to contravene certain offenses and to decriminalize others such as vagrancy and begging. This recast will also propose alternative measures to prosecution and imprisonment. Note that 32 articles dealing with new offenses that will be sanctioned by Haitian law, appear in the new penal code among others :

• The misuse of social networks causing harm to Haitian citizens (videos showing corpses, the mutilation of corpses and necrophilia...) and misleading advertising ;

• The call for violent demonstrations ;

• In the new penal code, abortion will be partially legalized. An abortion done because the child endangers the life of the mother, just like the one where the life of the child is threatened is legalized. In the case of incest and rape, abortion is also legalized. In all other cases, abortion remains prohibited.

• The zombification still practiced today in Haiti will now be included in Haitian law. The zombie, in the new legislation will be able to obtain "an act of reappearance" and to enjoy again the rights like all the other citizens of the country ;

• The acts of debauchery in public places ;

• Sale of tobacco and alcoholic beverages to minors ;

• Cybercrime ;

• Trafficking and smuggling of migrants ;

• The environment ;

• Firearms ;

• Financial Crimes, Money Laundering, Abuse of Corporate Property and Corruption ;

• Etc...
