Thursday in Gonaïves during a police operation, a dozen young minors, have been arrested in possession of marijuana and other illegal substances.

These young people under 18 are accused of possession, drug use and incitement to libertinage, according to the prosecutor of the commune. The authorities lamented the behavior of these teenagers who should be in school. A businessman whose identity was not revealed was also arrested on suspicion of hiring minors to sell drugs on the streets.

CONALD reported that between 2011 and 2015, approximately 9.6 tons of marijuana and 540 kilograms of cocaine were seized in Haiti, the two most abused drugs among high school students (3.2 percent use marijuana and 2.3% of cocaine).
