Haiti - Elections : 24 hours before the election, the CEP made the point

Yesterday, the last day of the electoral campaign, Gaillot Dorsinvil, the President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has announced, a few hours before the closure of the campaign, the formal prohibition of demonstrations in the streets until the proclamation of the final results [April 16] of the elections of tomorrow, Sunday.

Both presidential candidates, Michel Martelly and Mirlande Manigat, have met the CEP and signed a code of conduct in which they undertake to respect the electoral law... after having threatened [both candidates], in recent weeks, to send their supporters into the streets the day of elections or the day after. The President of the CEP, insisted on the fact that "the respect of the electoral law is the best guarantee of the success of these elections"

Gaillot Dorsinvil, said that "The CEP had taken all necessary measures to improve the process and make it more transparent" Among these transparency measures, the CEP has confirmed that the two presidential candidates, will be able to send their observers to the Tabulation Center (CT) to monitor the counting of the votes and the classification of the minutes.

Finally, the CEP has confirmed that the 2 million dollars, requested to the international community to implement technical improvements in the electoral process in the second round, as requested in the report of the expert mission of the Organization of American States (OAS), have been received.
