Haiti - FLASH : Prime Minister named threat to resign

Sunday at a meeting at the residence of President Jovenel Moïse, the situation was complicated when some deputies of the majority, including of North, asked the Prime Minister named Jean Henry Céant to renew Aviol Fleurant, the resigning Minister of the Planning, implying that they could vote against the Government, if they did not get satisfaction, provoking lively exchanges with the Céant team.

Exasperated, Céant who had already had difficulties in composing his cabinet after long and painful negotiations and which refuses to yield to this blackmail, after this meeting has verbally given his resignation to the Head of State.

Information confirmed by relatives of the appointed Prime Minister who specifies it's not a final decision... So far, no letter of resignation has been sent affirmed the entourage of the Prime Minister later in the evening...

Camille Leblanc, Special Adviser of Céant, confirmed the position of the Prime Minister named who would have said while speaking of Fleurant "He will be renewed with another Prime Minister, not by me."

Gary Bodeau, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies reacting to the possible resignation of the appointed Prime Minister said "It would be a shame for Haiti at a time when the country is waiting for the ratification of the PM and his ministerial cabinet [...]"

For the moment, the ratification of Céant seems deadlocked. As for the appointed ministers, it is said to some wise observers, after dismissing the lawyer Osner Richard, appointed Minister of Environment for dual nationality, the cabinet could know other changes soon...
