Haiti - Petit-Goâve : The police officers overwhelmed have no respite !

Saturday, Petit-Goâve police officers, who are in small numbers, had to intervene many times in a climate of tension and violence. Sometimes a group of demonstrators operated in the city center, another operated on the national road #2 or at the level of Seradót Market or Vialet, forcing the police to move constantly.

While they had just noticed that the main barrier of the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) was prey to the flames, they learned that the court of Peace was a victim of a fire and rushed to the scene in order to limit the damage https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-24891-icihaiti-petit-goave-the-population-angry-sets-fire-to-the-peace-court.html On the spot, the commissioner and the police officers asked the residents of the area for water to be able to extinguish the flames from the outside, it was almost impossible for them to penetrate inside because of the intensity of the fire.

The police then went to the police station of the city, attacked with stones and bottles by demonstrators, intervening to prevent the demonstrators from entering the police station.

The police offciers had only a few moments of respite at the end of the day before spending the night the agents of the order of Petit-Goâve spent the whole night from 7 to 8 July to remove barricades on the national #2 from Second Plain to Pont La Digue, said the Commissioner of Police, Conseillant Julbert, who emphasized that all police officers under his command had performed well and demonstrated exemplary professionalism since the riots began.
