Haiti - DR : 600 Dominican military students in training at the border

The General Command of the Army of the Dominican Republic sent 600 military students to carry out surveillance and protection exercises at the land border. These young soldiers belong to the different schools of the Directorate General of Education and Military Training as well as cadets belonging to the Military Academy "Batalla de Las Carreras".

These military exercises aim to assess the readiness and effectiveness levels of the institution's members and to ensure that these young soldiers correctly use the knowledge acquired in the different schools, through the execution of short and long patrols scope, the establishment of checkpoints, registration of vehicles and persons and operations in coordination with migration staff.

The training is divided into four parts: planning, concentration, deployment of personnel in assigned areas and monitoring of illicit traffic at the border. These exercises are part of the plans of President Medina and the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Rubén Darío Paulino Sem to carry out directed operations, aimed at increasing surveillance including illegal migration and security in the border area.

In addition, reforestation operations will be carried out on the border line in the areas of responsibility of the 3rd, 4th and 5th Infantry Brigades.
