Haiti - Education : Supervision of people with special needs

Tuesday at the local of the Project Coordination Unit of the Ministry of National Education, the Secretary of State for Disabled People, Gérald Oriol Jr., in the presence of among others Jackson Pléteau Chief of Staff to the Minister of National Education , Ralphson Pierre Director of the Unit of Information and Communication Technology in Education (UTICE), of Louis Pierre Janvier Director of the Commission for School Adaptation and Social Support (CASAS) and beneficiaries, proceeded during a ceremony to the distribution of adapted digital materials (tablets) to more than twenty students and students with disabilities.

Certificates were also given to 18 Ministry officials who participated in sign language training. Louis Pierre Janvier stressed that the training in sign language must reach other officials of the Ministry until 2019, before introducing this training in schools especially the intention of school directors and teachers, informed the CASAS Coordinator.

In his speech, Secretary of State Oriol praised this action which must be strengthened, saying "Thinking of integrating people with special needs into society means thinking about the well-being of the whole society."

Ralphson Pierre, Director of UTICE, a transversal structure of the Ministry responsible for facilitating the integration of technology inside schools, announced that this initiative will continue in all Departmental Directorates of Education where other people with special needs will also be supported.

Recall that special and inclusive education is an important component of the Ministry's integration of the new school curriculum.
