Haiti - Petit-Goâve : Under popular pressure, cleaning works will finally begin

Thursday evening on the program "Pale Palew" of Radio Preference, the Departmental Delegate of the West, Joseph Pierre Richard Duplan said that a lot of equipment has already arrived in Vialet (Petit-Goâve) and assured the inhabitants of Barrettes that the cleaning of the rivers begin this Friday, May 11.

The Delegate Duplan lamented last Wednesday's protests which took place in Barrettes where one death was recorded and at least two wounded by bullets during a clash with the agents of the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of the Order (UDMO) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24339-haiti-flash-demonstration-repressed-by-the-cimo-1-dead-and-2-wounded-by-bullets.html

Duplan presented his sympathies to the parents of the agronomist Petit Poulard shot dead. According to him "the events were caused by the impatience and mistrust of people [...] The population of Barrettes should not have acted in this way [...] it had to be patient."

Moreover, he denounced the hidden hand of a Senator of the opposition, without the name, which would have influenced the citizens of Barrettes and the presence of men from Chalon (1st communal section of Miragoâne) who would have infiltrated the demonstration Thursday. Delegate Duplan announced the opening of an investigation.
