At around 5:00 pm the situation degenerated when the agents of the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO) intervened brutally to clear the RN2 and restore public order.

Under stones thrown UDMO would have fired with real bullets according to witnesses. A young demonstrator Petit Poulard (agronomist) was shot in the back and died on the spot. Two other people were shot and wounded.

The deputy of Petit-Goâve Germain Fils Alexandre (PHTK) condemned and demanded that the perpetrators of these shootings be arrested while demanding justice and reparations for the victims.
