Following the strike started last April 2 by employees of the Office of Vehicle Insurance Against Third Party (OAVCT) who take hostage customers and road users https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24178-haiti-social-road-users-in-hostage-by-the-strike-of-oavct.html the Ministry of the Economy strongly condemns in a note, this work stoppage and the intransigence of strikers, "which require the departure of a Technical Commission mandated by the highest levels of the State for the restructuring of the institution."

Faced with this situation, the Ministry reminds strikers and employees of the serious consequences of this strike :

"- Non-assistance to the Office's clients, victims of road accidents;

- Impossibility to compensate the owners of vehicles victims of traffic accidents while the service is already paid;

- Considerable revenue losses for the institution;

- Non-payment of wages for the strike period;

- Failure to respect the universally recognized principle of minimum service to users in the event of a strike;

- Hostage of users (dealers and / or owners of private and public vehicles, motorcycle taxis) who can not operate in complete peace of mind and in any guarantee;

- Fragilisation of the current reform."

Adding that these consequences do not contribute in any way to the strengthening of the professional credibility of the Office, which is already greatly weakened by the turpitude of recent years.

The Ministry concluded by recalling "[...] the survival of the OAVCT depends on the success of the current reform whose benefits can only be beneficial for the country in general, for employees and policyholders in particular .

Therefore, while reiterating its commitment to continue the quest for essential consultation and inviting the protagonists to dialogue, the Ministry demands the immediate resumption of activities and reassures the employees as to a serene outcome of this crisis, in the interest of all parties [...]"
